Hobbs Heirloom 100% Cotton Batting Crib Size: 45" x 60"
[hbf-45x60]

$6.29

  • Hobbs Heirloom Bleached 100% Cotton Batting Crib Size: 45" x 60"
  • Hobbs Bonded Fibers and Harriet Hargrave have developed Heirloom BLEACHED cotton batting to be a nautral fiber alternative for quilters using white or light colored fabrics. Heirloom is wonderful to quilt for HAND or MACHINE quilters, and can be quilted up to 4" apart.
  • ALL COTTON Heirloom Bleached Cotton is made from the finest cotton available. It is very clean, bleached long staple virgin cotton and proudly displays the Cotton Incorporated seal.
  • NO SCRIMS OR BINDERS Product is 100% virgin cotton, containing no scrim binders or resins. Needlepunched with fine needles, especially designed to give a soft hand and even appearance.
  • RESISTS BUNCHING OR SHIFTING Heirloom Bleached cotton resists bunching or shifting and can be quilted up to four (4) inches apart. Harriet Hargrave recommends quilters not quilt more than three (3) inches apart for the overall health of the quilt, so four inches gives quilters maximum flexibility.
  • USE WITH WHITE OR LIGHT FABRICS This product is specifically made to be used with white and or light colored fabrics, but may also be used with darker fabrics. Cotton should not migrate through the dark colored fabrics like a polyester, so you have more flexibility using cotton with various fabrics. Cotton has been known to punch through needle holes, however when washed, most of these fibers should disappear.

  • Crib Size: 45" x 60" (114 cm. x 152 cm.)
  • Exceptional Softness
  • Can be quilted up to 4 inches apart
  • Idael for fine hand and machine quilting with white or light colored fabrics
  • Approximate Loft: 1/8"
  • Shrinkage: 3-5%
  • Maximum distance between stitches: 4"
  • For hand Quilting: Excellent
  • For Machine Quilting: Excellent
  • For Dark Fabrics: Caution! Pre Test
  • For Light Fabrics: Excellent
  • Developed with Harriet Hargrave

  • USE AND CARE
  • If used new, straight from the package, Heirloom Cotton can shrink up to 5%. This allows the batt to shrink after quilting and create the desired look of antique puckering.
  • The batt can be gently presoaked if puckering is not desired. To preshrink, just fill the washer with tepid water. No detergent! Open the batting and gently immerse in water. Shut washer off and soak for 5-10 minutes. DO NOT AGITATE! Spin to remove excess water. Dry batting on air or fluff cycle. Remove immediately.
  • Cotton quilts can be washed many times and tend to become softer and more beautiful with time. Keep your quilts clean.
  • Use only a very gentle detergent when washing your quilts. Harriet recommends either Orvus Paste or Treasure Wash. Both are extremely safe for the batting as well as the fabric dyes.
  • Using your washing machine as a vehicle for water, wash in tepid water. Agitate by hand. A 15 minute wash time is sufficient.
  • Rinse in tepid water until all detergent is removed, agitate by hand.
  • Dry quilts flat. Dryers can be very damaging to batting as well as the dyes on the surface of the fabric.
  • When the quilt is just barely damp, it can be placed in the dryer on air for a few minutes to fluff and soften the batting and fabrics.
